The moment Kramer walks through the door you recognize him. The same can happen with conflict if we aware of how it shows up.
Part I of this series defined conflict in an organizational and system context. This part offers the following ways conflict can “make an entrance” in organizations and systems:
- Disputes
- Competition
- Sabotage
- Inefficiency
- Lack of productivity
- Withholding knowledge
- Low morale
Much like Kramer’s enthusiastic entrances, conflict can take you by surprise at first, yet still be familiar which can cause us to react to it in our predictable ways. Take a moment to think about the ways conflict makes an appearance with your collaborators, teams, and organizations. This is the first step to help understand its sources and engage with it differently and even more constructively.
In the immortal words of Kramer, “Giddy up!”
